It has been a pretty engaging months for us at Sambhawana as our students are working hard to complete their school community initiatives. Meanwhile we had an opportunity to be a part of Student Leadership Program of Women Lead Nepal. On a nice sunny day we took the 2014 LEADers through a civic engagement journey starting from a fun civic bingo game to help their understand they are they involved in their communities and then developing the idea with the role of citizen in the democratic process. Both of these activities allowed them to analyze their own involvement and understanding about civic engagement and their participation.
Since, there was so much buzz about constitution being drafted on 22 January, we did a fun yet very intense group constitution drafting session to help them understand the content and the process. Later, when asked, the LEADers found the activity very helpful to learn and refer other documents in future. Following the training, we accompanied the leaders in 8 schools to work with their students on civic issues and how they can take leadership starting from their schools and the communities.
